Jon Caplin of Electrolyte, Last17, and Developer of Reprisal Universe - Interview

Jon Caplin of Electrolyte, Last17, and Developer of Reprisal Universe - Interview

I'm a fan of the slow, methodical thinking game as well as something action packed with whizz-bang effects and explosions. That is part of entertainment, seeing both excitement and those thoughtful moments juxtaposed to give more weight to the other. It is this balance that allows any form entertainment takes to be that much more meaningful, exciting, and substantive.

Reprisal Universe is akin to the former of these two examples.

The Gentlemen of Maschinen-Mensch Talk Curious Expedition

Life is about expanding horizons, correct? So this interview is going to incorporate video.

Maschinen-Mensch, comprised of Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann, are working on a wonderfully smart and promising game called Curious Expedition. A rogue-like adventure, expedition, and discovery simulator set in the 19th century, Curious Expedition allows you to... adventure using some of the most prominent figures from science and history.

I won't give too much away because these two can (and did) speak for themselves.

For more information about this game visit Curious Expedition's website as well as on Twitter.

Maschinen-Mensch has other projects, too!

The Folks at Monothetic Discuss Beacon, a Rogue-like with a Sci-Fi Twist

The Folks at Monothetic Discuss Beacon, a Rogue-like with a Sci-Fi Twist

When I reached out to Monothetic to discuss their current project Beacon I did not expect a panel to assemble. Ultimately, many hands were on deck which only benefits you, intrepid reader. The role-call includes; Taychin Dunnvatanachit (Art Direction), Joe Russell (Writing) Arran Seaton (Design & Music) and Kiefen Zipf (Design).

It may come as a surprise to no one that I loves me some science fiction. Like many, I grew up with the Star Wars and Star Treks as part of my entertainment regimen. Beacon promises to deliver on that sci-fi fantasy itch in that the game only exists as a small part of an overall universe. With implications of a much larger story operating just behind the backdrop, I am further pulled in looking for hints of the grand design.

Predictably, game specific details are scant as this is still a work in progress (the main protagonist's name appears to be Freja). That doesn't mean we can't investigate a little to see what we can discover.
